Lecture: Creating a Thesis Statement
The following lecture will be presented in class. The purpose of this lecture is to inform you on what a thesis statement is, necessary elements that are involved, and how to write your own thesis statement. Please pay attention, take notes, and complete the activities in the lecture as we come to them. The activities in this lecture require a lot of writing and will help you become more acquainted with writing a thesis statement. There is no set formula for writing a thesis statement - the only way you can improve is by practicing!
The activities that we complete in this lesson are types of "entry-level" and "formative" assessments, meaning that I will be checking for comprehension, understanding, and critical thinking.
All handouts needed will be provided in class before the lecture begins

Directions
Follow along with the in-class lecture. When we get to a question, stop and write down your answer on a piece of paper. You may also want to write down questions that you have along the way. I'll be able to answer for these for you during and after the lesson.
Follow along with the guided notes. The notes contain questions and vital information for how a thesis statement works.
